a race going from strength to strength, quick course, really well organised,
great prizes well distributed throughout field
Looking at the results from one year to the next, this course seems to consistently see people beat their all their previous 5k times... What is different about it than any other 5k course?
Downhill for the first mile, flat for mile 2 and while a slight drag up to mile 3, a fast downhill for the remaining 100 metres. also the top of the field are attracted by the very prize money and it drags the rest of the field along. a lot runners post marathon train specifically for it too. apart from cloyne and marina there isn't a better 5k race
I'd say a high quality field that demands you push yourself beyond your limits has more to do with attracting a high quality field rather then prize money
