Race profile for the Cork Half-Marathon in Blarney...

This year, the course of the Cork Half-Marathon in Blarney has been changed to remove the hill that went up around Grenagh. Not only does it make the course easier but it will of course make it faster as well.

The graph above shows the profile of the old and new courses. I have adjusted the vertical height so that you can make a direct comparison. You'll notice that the new route is more of a gradual uphill and gradual downhill and a lot more benign than the old course.

Reminder.......Cheap entries close on the 1st of September

The race sponsor is John Buckley Sports, one of the main sports shops in Cork for running shoes and other running related gear.

Hi J;
That looks like a big difference in elevation and will make it a faster race.
It will suit more people and probably draw a bigger crowd, which always creates a great atmosphere, although for 20€ you couldn't flaw this race one bit. It is always so well organised.

Personally,I'm going to miss the hill, as it really made you work for your time.

Is this going to be the new course going forward or is it a "Test Year" ?

Is it a HAT or a MEDAL ?

The suspense is killing me.

Cheers J.
