JustRace take over RunClare events

In the last few days, Just Race Events announced a takeover of the RunClare series of races.

They wrote... " We’re proud to announce that Just Race Events is now managing and operating RunClare.com — continuing its legacy of brilliant community races across County Clare.
A massive thank-you to Jason Moloney for his incredible contribution to the running scene and for helping ensure a smooth handover. Here’s to a seamless transition and many more miles ahead. 💪"

Let's have a look.

RunClare... Road races in Co Clare were in the past organised only by athletic clubs and the format up to more recent times hadn't changed a whole lot i.e. they were still organising races like they did back in the 80's and 90's and the numbers taking part by and large were reasonably small.

When the event management company RunClare came on the scene, they organised independent running events and then harnessed the power of social media to gain traction.

They offered medals and t-shirts for participants and they put on events in Co Clare which were popular with runners.

JustRace is a new company which as far as I know started in 2024. They offer chip timing services like other companies but they are different in that they are also an event organiser.

Up to now, they have been involved with races in N Kerry, Limerick and Tipperary and now the takeover of RunClare adds another region.

Changing Times... Up to recently, chip timing companies provided a service to event organisers whereby they timed an event and then posted the results on their website.

While they obviously get paid for this service, the real money in commercial events is in organising them, not providing a service.

Some of the big commercial events around the country will take in over €100k in entry fees alone so it's not surprising to see chip timing companies moving into event management.
