Notice: Spike Island 5k - Sat 29th April 2023

The Spike Island 5k in the middle of Cork Harbour is coming up on Saturday the 29th of April 2023. This really is a unique event as it starts and finishes in the fort on the island.

The 5k cost €24 to enter and that includes the ferry transfer from Cobh to Spike Island.

From the organisers... "Spike Island Cork are delighted to announce the return of their annual 5km Race this April. What other race begins and ends in a 200 year old Fortress and goes around a heritage island taking in beautiful harbour views. With boats departing from Cobh at 4pm and 4:45pm on Saturday 29 April 2023, each runner will take on the stunning 5km route around our scenic and historic island before a medal ceremony after crossing the finish line. 

On arrival at the island, guests will be escorted to the fort and will receive a brief history of the island from one of our tour guides. The race itself will take place at approx. 5:25pm. Entry price includes return journey by ferry, the full 5km course with marshals on hand to guide you and provide water and fruit at the finish line as well as a special Spike Island medal on completion. There are also prizes for the first male and first female participants to cross the finish line.
