Race Day Arrangements for the Ballintotis 4-mile road race - Thurs 21st April 2022

The big race this week is of course the Ballintotis 4-miler in East Cork on Thursday 21st of April 2022.

There is already a lot of interest in this race and you can still enter online HERE

However, you CAN enter on the night.

Ballintotis is just a few kms to the east of Castlemartyr in East Cork. Maps & course details are covered in this previous post.

Here are the race arrangements from the Ballintotis Road Race Committee...

Ballintotis Road Race Committee have finalised plans ahead of this year's race, which takes place on Thursday April 21st at 8pm.  It's the 11th year and once again has attracted huge interest, with in the region of 1,000 plus runners set to go to the start line.  The event is also a great social and sporting occasion in the locality dna begins with the community walk at 6pm  

In advance of the walk and race, intending participants are asked to please note the following arrangements and advice.


Please arrive early to allow time for parking and where possible please car pool. There are three main Car Parks for participants, two of which are located on the Main N25 Road. at the Ballintotis Junction. If walkers wish to leave before the race begins. they need to park in one of these car parks. Car Parks may be prioritised to cater for traffic flow - please follow the instructions of Gardai and stewards. In relation to the car parks on race route – cars  will not be allowed exit until all runners have passed. 

Entry Desks are located in the Main Hall of the Community Centre – Open from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday 20th and from 1pm onwards on Thursday 21st. Entry Fee is 15 euro. Please enter via the side door of the hall. Those who have entered on line in advance can also collect their number in the Community Centre at the aforementioned times at separate designated desks.

Changing Facilities/ Toilets  -  A Marquee is located on the green adjacent to Church Car Park.  Toilets are located in the Church Car Park area.

The walk begins at 6.00pm sharp. Entries will be taken in the Community Centre from 5.00pm onwards. Refreshments served for all walkers in the Marquee at the front of the Community Centre immediately after the conclusion of the Walk.

The race begins at 8pm sharp – the Start Line is approx 200 meters from the Church on the way to Main Road. The Finish Line is in front of the Church.The race is chipped timed with timing mats at the start and finish line. All runners are asked to start in the time zone which reflects their expected finishing time.

Goodie bags, which include race buff, will be given out at the finish line of the race.  Bottled water and bananas  will be available immediately after the race.  Refreshments will also be served after the race in the Community Centre for those who wish to avail of this option.. Please enter the Community Centre via the side door. – A second marquee has been erected at the front of the Community Centre where runners can mingle after receiving their refreshments.

One of our longest serving Race sponsors Simon Ahern of Ahern's Centra and Ger Broderick Race committee display the race Buff which all runners will receive as part of their goody bag at the Finish Line. A huge thanks to Simon for his continued loyal support of the Ballintotis  Race

Prize giving will take place outside the main Hall after the race at approx 9.30pm.

Spot Prizes” will be randomly placed in selected goodie bags of Runners & Walkers

*Key locations around the course will have a 2 way radio to link back to race Coms Center.  All instructions regarding changes to traffic flow and cark park changes will come from the Coms Center.

Barry Hennessy of the Hunted Hog and Castlemartyr Resort hands over the vouchers which this year's race winners will receive on April 21st. Thanks to the Hunted Hog the men's and ladies winners will each receive an overnight stay at the magnificent Castlemartyr Resort.
