This was a disaster for 15 euro whatever the worthy cause. We waited half the afternoon for the results with no explanation or apology for the delay. All they had to say was there would be a delay instead and people could have gone home. I will not be back.

Looking back over recent months Cork County Race Prices seem to be increasing or is it just me?

Sorry about the delay in processing the results.
Efforts were being made to produce them as quickly as possible, however due to a few glitches it was not done in a timely manner and apologies totally about that.
Information was given that we were working on the results and would have then as soon as possible. Asking people to leave and return didn't see a sensible approach.
All prizes were given out before 4:30pm and results available online last night, with some errors corrected today.

Again apologies for the delay in processing the results, but at the end of the day I believe the whole race / walk was a positive experience for most people and I have received a number of emails to that effect today.

I beg once again the Question of pricing Races here in Cork! - why for in this instance at €15 for a 5 mile race and the average runner what are they getting for their Buck?

I have ran this 5 mile regularly for the last few years.
I have always found it to be a great race, and yesterday was no exception.
I didn't go back to the race HQ at Bandon GAA after the race, so I can't comment on any delays in results.
What I can comment on is what i saw and experienced :- on a bitterly cold and wet day, there was an abundance of volunteers and helpers available, and every junction on the route was manned. No easy task, considering we ran up a number of usually busy streets in Bandon.
There was a good atmosphere around at the start, and the sun even appeared for an all to brief while. Tough head wind heading out west on New Road tho'.!!
All and all, I thoroughly enjoyed my day.
So thanks to all in Bandon AC for organising yesterdays race.
I will be back next year.

With regards to entry fees, there is a lot of upward pressure on prices. Nothing is getting cheaper and fewer clubs and organisers can now time their own events. Chip timing adds a fair bit to the entry fee.

At the end of the day, it's up to individual runners to decide whether they want to pay the entry fee or not.

If you consider the price of a race too dear, just don't run it.
Simple as.

That way there will be races for the better well off people and the rest of us can go elsewhere?

for €15 in this case, you got to make a donation to charity, you got to run safely and covered by insurance on public roads with a lead car heralding your arrival and over 35 stewards on the course to ensure you were safe at the various junctions. plus an ambulance crew and traffic corp guards on hand just in case.
bottled water at the finish and all the tea/coffee, biscuits/cakes you could shake a stick at afterwards for the runner and any family with them.
Then you were in with a chance of winning a prize or a spot prize afterwards.

There are plenty of choices and as with everything in life how people choose to spend their money is their choice

This is my last comment on the cost of this or any other road races in Cork.

It seems though with numbers down for this particular race that numerous people feel it's too expensive

It's pretty normal up the country closer to Dublin for a €15 entry fee. When the numbers are small and the entry fee is €10, it's going to start getting harder to pay for everything.

Thanks John. That is what we were afraid of that Dublin area pricing could now unfortunately start kicking in here. From what You have said here John we are now thinking unfortunately it is a vicious circle with smaller numbers because of increased pricing system
