Top times in the 100m...

Following on from Justin Gatlin winning the 100m at the World Championships in London, this image was doing the rounds on Twitter.

It shows the top times for the 100m with those who have failed a drugs test at some stage being struck out...

From Wikipedia..."In 2001, Gatlin incurred a two-year ban from athletics for testing positive for a banned substance; the ban was later reduced to one year on appeal. In 2006, he incurred a further four-year ban (originally an eight-year ban) from track and field for testing positive for a banned substance, with this sanction erasing his then-world-record time of 9.77 seconds in the 100 metres."

At 35 years old, he is the oldest person to ever win the 100m at the World Championships.

That is the thing with Gatlin, with some drugs the body can benefit for many years to some degree. Athlete is stronger because of it, with training, and gets injured less, and recovers faster. I'm sure many athletes would love to take what he took, train hard but do not compete for a few years, and then reap the benefits- and the millions$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
