The other Irish interest in this race was Alex Wright who was disqualified for lifting as he tried to catch the leading group. He was going really well until he was clipped from behind which resulted in him having to stop to fix his shoe. Story on Irish Examiner.

Well done to Rob. I was in London yesterday at the walk and was so proud to be Irish. He is held in such high esteem. The 50k walk is gruelling to say the least. 8th place is a fantastic achievement. On a side note, it was good to see the ladies participate in the event for the first time.
