Notice : Duhallow AC 10 mile road race in Newmarket - Sun 8th April 2018

Just a reminder that the Duhallow AC 10 mile road race in Newmarket is coming up on Sunday the 8th of April 2018.

Online entries are now closed but you can still enter on the day.

There will be a dry fit top for the first 700 to register.

The 10 mile route is an out and back course and it can be seen below. Parts of the course will be the same as the Newmarket 5k course which is held every December.

As can be seen above, there is a climb before the 4 mile mark but the last 3 miles are nice and fast.

The club website is https://duhallowac.wordpress.com/

Seeing as this is a main road out of Newmarket, is the road going to be closed to traffic? If the road is not going to be closed how is the safety of runners going to be guaranteed seeing as there will be runners in both lanes for the majority of the race. I understand this system is used for the annual 5k but a 10 miler is on a different scale.

According to the organisers, traffic will be diverted away from the Newmarket to Ballydesmond road.

Delighted to see Duhallow AC organising this 10 miler, they host a really good 5k every year and knowing the road this is a fast 10 mile route, anyone looking for a time/PB should have a look at this. if they attract the same class of field they get for their 5k it'll be a cracking race. Best of luck to Donie Shine and co with this addition to the calendar.

In the past 18 years i have been coming down to newmarket for it be a 5 miler or 5k its always been a great event and attracts some top class athletes from all over ireland. looking forward to this one. All the best Duhallow ac. The new course with no time restrictions is great.

HI there, will there be pacers for this event like Dungarvan 10 mile event?

WHY 30 euro ??? Ballycotton was 15 euro

John Desmond said...

€30... dry fit top and hat which Ballycotton didn't have. Also economies of scale as this event is much smaller. €30 isn't that different from other similar events.

No pacers as far as I know.

Is this event likely to sellout, or go over 700?
I'd like to do it and get the tech top if I'm paying €30 ;-) , but I won't know until very close to the day I think

Anyone know if you'd entered already then you don't need to renter? Got a text from MyRunResult last night that was clear as mud!

Running head to head with UCC will probably put a dent in numbers.

John Kissane said...

To answer my own question, you have to re-enter.

John according to the e mail sent out if you have already registered then you dont need to re register. . I hope i still am registered as i originally registered for Banteer then it became Dunhallow New market . So i would like to think i am ok .

And probably the reason Ballycotton is no more...

John Desmond said...
