Cork City Council have just opened a consultation for a new 4.3-hectare park in Glanmire. It is located next to the Glashaboy River and the new park is located to the south of the existing John O'Callaghan Park.

The accompanying new greenway which is on eastern side of the new park is expected to open very soon (Autumn 2026). Once construction of the new park begins, it is expected to take 12-months. Allowing for the consultation, planning and funding, it will probably be sometime around the end of the decade before this park is completed.
For reference, the new park and the existing John O'Callaghan park is about 1km from north to site. The combined total of the parks will be around 5-hectares. For reference, Ballincollig Regional Park is 55-hectares.
For walkers, runners and cyclists, this is a big improvement compared to the footpath on the busy R639 road. There are a huge number of housing developments to the north of the new park so I'm sure it will be a welcome addition.
