Sports Ireland announce 2019 funding grants for athletes

Sports Ireland recently outlined the various grants for 2019 for athletes of the various National Governing Bodies (NGB).

Paralympics Ireland : €364,000 (Up from €352,000 in 2018).
Rowing Ireland : €290,000 (Up from €212,000 in 2018).
Cycling  Ireland : €268,000 (Up from €250,000 in 2018).

Athletics Ireland : €192,000 (Up from €184,000 in 2018).
Irish Athletic Boxing Association : €188,000 (Up from €172,000 in 2018).
Swim Ireland : €144,000 (Down from €152,000 in 2018).
Pentathlon Ireland : €104,000 (Up from €64,000 in 2018).
Irish Sailing Association : €84,000 (Down from €116,000 in 2018).
Irish Judo Association : €56,000 (Up from €24,000 in 2018).
Badminton Ireland : €56,000 (? in 2018).
Canoeing Ireland : €52,000 (Down from €64,000 in 2018).
Gymnastics Ireland : €52,000 (Up from €25,000 in 2018).
Triathlon Ireland : €32,000 (Up from €12,000 in 2018).
Irish Clay Target Shooting Association : €20,000 (Down from €32,000 in 2018).
Irish Taekwondo Union : €20,000 (Up from €12,000 in 2018).
Table Tennis (Para) : €12,000 (Down from €20,000 in 2018).
Hockey Ireland : 2019??? (was €45,000 in 2018).

The grant for Athletics Ireland athletes is up from €184,000 in 2018. In 2017, the total was €236k while it was €220k in 2016. A large part of this drop is due to the semi-retirement of Rob Heffernan and the loss of his €40,000 per annum grant.

For 2019, Phil Healy, Marcus Lawler and the Irish women's 100m relay team get a grant of €12,000 each. Christine McMahon, Michelle Finn, Sara Treacy and Paul Pollock each lose their €12k grant.
