This is a brand new 5k coming up on Sunday the 15th of April 2018 and it's just to the south of Ballincollig.

From the organisers.....The inaugural 5km Karen Fenton Memorial road race is coming up on Sunday the 15th of April 2018, at 11.30 am in Ballinora.  This is organised by the 'Karen Fenton Ovarian Cancer Fund' in association with St. Finbarr's AC.

This road race is being held in memory of Karen Fenton, who passed away from Ovarian Cancer, on the 30th of April 2017, aged 43. Karen was one of Ballinora's own and enjoyed participating in many athletic events.

Location...Ballinora is located just south-west of Cork City and to the south of Ballincollig.

It can be accessed by taking Exit 1 on the Ballincollig bypass or going via Waterfall. See the course map below.

Course.....See below...

The 5k starts just to the north of Ballinora on a quiet country road.

The course is pretty reasonable with a gentle climb although it does have a bit of a see-saw finish...

There are two small hills at the end which while a bit testing are also quite short. An action packed last km! :o)

Considering its location so close to Cork City, its for a good cause and the fact that it's a new race, it should get a lot of interest.
