Back on the 15th of June, Tony Kelleher of Togher AC set a new Irish Masters record in the Over 45 category when he ran an 800m track race at the Munster Senior & Masters Track & Field Championships in Cork in 2m 00.03s.
As you can see from the results, he was just three one-hundredths of a second over the two minute barrier.
The previous record to that was held by Ken Deevey from Kilkenny who ran 2:01.57
at the World Masters Championships in San Sebastien, Spain back in
2005.
Tony was in action again this evening...Fri 11th of July...at the Morton Games in Dublin. In one of the 800m races, he finished in a time of 1m 59.34 to break his own masters record..
Well done Tony!
