Back in October of 2013, I had a post about how the former high jump champion Blanka Vlasic had traveled to Ireland for treatment by physical therapist Anthony 'Star' Geoghegan at his clinic in Carlow. The Croatian athlete has been out of action for the last two years with a serious achilles injury and has struggled to return to form.
On Thursday, she posted this photo of Anthony Geoghegan in a Croatian tracksuit and herself in Sopot, Poland for the World Indoor Championships. With the photo, she posted..."Now that my therapist and friend Star has arrived, our team is complete."
Prior to an athletics meeting in Prague last week, Vlasic gave an interview where she expressed her disappointment and frustration of trying to regain form. In the subsequent competition, she cleared 2 metres which potentially puts her back in the running for a podium finish in Poland.
The emotional response in the video shows the relief of her return to world class jumping...
