By the way, the organisers are always looking for volunteers. All 5k parkruns are free and are completely dependent on people giving up their time. All the jobs are pretty easy and they'll find something for you to do.

Results of the Ballincollig 5k parkrun...Sat 8th July 2017
A total of 175 people took part in this weeks 5k parkrun in Ballincollig Regional Park. As you can see from the chart, there has been a gradual drop since the middle of June. I wonder if it's because of more people heading away on holidays at this time of year?
I also noticed that Rachel O'Callaghan finished in the top spot for the first time! Rachel is a regular at this event and has finished in the 2nd and 3rd spots in the past.

Latest stats show that Mallow AC is now the largest athletic club in Cork
Athletics Ireland have recently released the membership stats for all the athletic clubs in Ireland as of the end of July 2016. They show that Mallow AC is now the largest athletic club in Cork in terms of adult membership after adding an additional 39 members in July. These are the athletic clubs in Cork with more than 80 adult members...
Club (Seniors & Masters)...End of July 2016 (Change since June)
1. Mallow AC 205 (+39)
2. Ballymore Cobh AC 189 (+6)
3. Eagle AC 185 (+3)
4. Leevale AC 167 (+3)
5. St.Finbarrs AC 161 (0)
6. Youghal AC 161 (+4)
7. Midleton AC 160 (+1)
8. Ballintotis Fit4Life 149 (0)
9. Watergrasshill AC 131 (0)
10. Togher AC 130 (+2)
11. Bandon AC 113 (+19)
12. Dromahane Road Runners 104 (0)
13. Grange Fermoy AC 84 (+1)
14. Tracton AC 81 (+3)
15. Aghada Running Club 81 (+5)
16. Clonakilty Runners AC 76 (0)
17. St.Nicholas AC 65 (0)
18. Rosscarbery Steam Runners AC 63 (0)
19. North Cork AC 62 (0)
20. Bantry AC 58 (0)
21. Bweeng Trailblazers 56 (0)
22. Galtee Runners AC 51 (0)
23. Ballincollig AC 51 (+1)
Some points...
1) Clubs with Fit4Life beginner programmes tend to have a large membership. There are plenty of smaller clubs that are more focused on other areas like track and field and the faster end of road running.
2) Adult membership tends to reflect the clubs active in road race. There are plenty of clubs with lots of juvenile members but the number of adults coaching them would be relatively small.
3) These stats are for clubs registered with Athletics Ireland. There are a growing number of small running clubs who are doing their own thing.
You can find the stats for July 2016 up on the Athletics Ireland website.
