Results of the Cork BHAA FMC 6k road race in Little Island - 23rd Jan 2022

The first road race on the Cork BHAA calendar was held in Little Island on Sunday the 23rd of January 2022 with a reasonable turnout of 330 completing the 6km course.

However as the chart above shows, the numbers were well down on recent years. The last time the numbers were lower was way back in 2007.

Results & photos of the Cork BHAA FMC 6km road race in Little Island...Sun 15th Jan 2017

A total of 373 runners turned out for this year's Cork BHAA FMC 6km road race in Little Island. The weather conditions were perfect with a temperature of about 10 deg C and a light wind.

This is always the first road race on the Cork BHAA calendar every year and gets a good turnout. The figure of 373 is very good for a local road race but is still down 7% on last year. As you can see from the chart, the numbers are well down on a few years back and is probably a reflection of the greater choice of events on the calendar at present. A few years back, the BHAA race would have been the only race on that weekend. This weekend, there was a choice of a 5k parkrun in Ballincollig, a trail race near Fermoy and the BHAA race in Little Island.

The numbers were down this year for the annual Cork BHAA FMC 6km race in Little Island with 401 taking part. This compares to 527 in 2015. No doubt the damp conditions were a major factor for the drop but it still seems a lot.

The first road race in the 2014 Cork BHAA calendar was held today Sunday the 19th of January with the FMC 4 mile in Little Island. Despite the rain earlier in the morning, things had improved a lot by 11am.

Category Results of the Cork BHAA 'FMC' 4 Mile Road Race - Sun 23rd Jan 2011

A record number of around 430 turned out for the first road race in the 2011 Cork BHAA road race calendar. Despite the low temperatures and harsh overnight frost, the roads had cleared by the time the race started just after 11am.

Looking at the numbers for this race over the last few years, you can see that the numbers increased dramitically in 2008 and have been around the 400 mark for the last 4 events.
