Another piece of sad news. It has been announced that Dick Hodgins of the Cork City Sports has passed away.... Notice.
As a member of Leevale AC, Dick was a fine athlete in his day recording 2:25 in his first marathon and won the National Marathon title in Galway in 1975 in a time of 2h 19m 46s.
He finished third in the first-ever Ballycotton '10' in 1978 and was runner-up to Liam O'Brien three years later in 1981.
In later years, he was one of the key people behind the organising of the Cork City Sports every year.
The Evening Echo have an article on Dick Hodgins HERE while the Cork City Sports have an article HERE.
