Entry list for the 2016 Ballycotton 10 now online....

The list of entries for the 2016 Ballycotton 10 mile road race is now available.

You can see the full list in order of entry number HERE

The list in alphabetical order of surname is HERE

There is also a list on this spreadsheet HERE  of all the club entries. It might be handy for clubs that was to see who from their own club entered. Just copy and paste your club entries to your club Facebook page or website.

In total, there are 3583 entries this year which is down slightly on last year. Based on previous years, there should be roughly 2600 taking part next March.

The percentage of women entered is up slightly from 39.8 to 40.4% which I think is the highest ever.

The one big change this year is the percentage of club entries. Last year, 34.4% of all those entered were members of an athletics club. This year, that jumps to 45.7% which is a significant amount. As for why the jump?? In December 2014, club runners had an option of a two week window for postal entries. In December 2015, club runners could avail of an online option to get in. It might make things easier but it hardly explains the large jump. There is no obvious jump in club membership that would account for it.

Top athletic clubs by numbers:
Midleton AC..117, St. Finbarrs AC...96, Eagle AC...93, Mallow AC...74, Kilkenny City Harriers...62, Watergrasshill AC...59, Ballintotis FIt4Life...57, Youghal AC...48, Slaney Olympic AC...44, Leevale AC..40, Waterford AC. 37, Crusaders AC. 35, West Waterford AC. 34, Ballymore Cobh AC. 31, Clonmel AC. 31, Newbridge A.C. 30, Rosscarbery Steam Runners AC. 30, Portlaoise AC. 29, Sportsworld AC. 26, Bandon AC. 24, Galtee Runners A.C. 24, Grange-Fermoy A.C. 24, Tallaght A.C. 24, Celbridge A.C. 23 , Clonakilty Road Runners A.C. 20, Donoughmore A.C. 19, St. Abbans A.C. 19, Donore Harriers 18, East Cork A.C. 18, Togher A.C. 17

Not at all surprised the club options is well up on previous years. I think the online entry option for club athletes is exactly the reason why there is such a jump in club registered athletes. I myself am a club athlete and I would have just entered via the genereal population online option in the past as it was much easier. This year I entered the online club option, which again is much easier than going to the club to do it as I don't get to club sessions as much these days. I expect a lot of club members dont regularly go to club training sessions but were happy to use the option as well.

Most people in this day and age just want the simplicity of entering online in less than 5 minutes and its done, instead of having to manually talk to someone and give them cash etc...Its the time we live in I suppose
