Joe Gough breaks National Over 70 record at Coillte 10k Road Race in Dundrum

PJ Trait representing race sponsors Coillte presenting Joe Gough West Waterford with his Over 70 Men’s prize at the recent Coillte 10k road race in Dundrum.

At the start of July 2023, Joe Gough of West Waterford AC finished first in the M70 category at the Coillte 10k in Dundrum, Co Tipperary with a time of 41:10. This was a new national record. See the report from Dundrum AC below...

Joe Gough of West Waterford AC sets new World Masters Record


At an indoor 800m race in Abbotstown, Dublin on Thursday evening, Joe Gough (M65) of West Waterford AC set a new masters indoor world record! Finishing in a time of 2m 16.65s, Joe broke the previous over 65 indoor world record of 2m 16.80s which was set by Earl Fee of Canada way back in 1994.

Joe Gough of Ireland finishes 2nd in dramatic finish in Masters race at World Championships in Oregon


At the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, one of the morning events was the Masters men's over-60 800 metre race. In a dramatic final lap, Joe Gough from West Waterford AC kept the lead until the last few metres when his legs gave out.


In the end, Joe finished in a very credible second place against some of the best masters athletes in the world.

Joe Gough of West Waterford AC wins world masters title

Last Friday on the 28th of March, Joe Gough of West Waterford AC won the World Masters 800m Indoor Title at the World Masters Indoor Championships in Budapest. Joe won the O60 age category in a time of 2.15.08. According to a report from Athletics Ireland...."Gough stormed around the last 200m in 30 seconds to clinch the title ahead of Nolan Shaheed (United States) second in 2.16.18 and Francois Martel (Canada) third in 2.18.98."

On the Sunday, Brian Lynch won the M60 title in the1500m race with Joe Gough finishing third this time...

M45 Cathal McLaughlin finished third in the M45 1500m final in a time of 4:10,80

W55 Shot Put...Mary Barrett finished third in this competition with 10.64 metres.
