Notice: IMRA Beara Way 30km Challenge - Sat 18th May 2024

IMRA are holding a 30km trail race on the Beara Peninsula on Saturday 18th May 2024. The event starts and finishes in the town of Castletownbere and takes in the local hills and mountains.

This is quite a difficult event with 1300m of ascent and would be suitable for someone who could complete a 42.2km road marathon easily enough.

A total of 47 runners turned out for this 5 mile miler in Castletownbere in West Cork. Like the rest of the country, there was wall to wall sunshine for this race so conditions must have been hot for running.

2017 Wild Atlantic Way race in Castletownbere cancelled...

The Wild Atlantic Way 10k race in Castletownbere, West Cork was last held in September of 2016 and it was planned to hold another one this year. The organisers announced today that it has been deferred until 2018.

~EVENT CANCELLED for 2017~
The 2017 Wild Atlantic Way Run - Castletownbere will not take place this year due to Unforeseen Circumstances. It was proposed to introduce a new Route for this Year's event, but this could not be finalised in time for our proposed date...
The Event will return again in 2018 and we would like to Thank You all for the support we received over the last two years. Please spread the word and stay tuned for further updates in the next 12 months...

This was a first year of this particular event and 150 local runners and walkers turned out for these two runs in Castletownbere.
