We have a large team already entered for the World Masters Mountain Running Championships in Madeira next month but a number of the teams are lacking one or two vita members! Closing date is next Tuesday so it’s urgent.
Irish teams are heading to the World Masters Mountain Running in Madeira from September 15-17 with high hopes of winning medals in a number of categories.
Two races will take place - a short uphill 9km on the Friday and a longer 34km trail race on the Sunday.
However to make up full teams, more runners are needed. “Categories we could win include F45 short and long races as well as the F35, F50, F55, and M35 short races . We could also take medals in a number of other age groups - M35, M40, M45 and M65 short and M40 and M50 long and well as F40 and F60 short,” says team manager Turlough Conway.
“The athletic requirement is simply that you can finish your chosen event! Those who’ve already entered have worked out the travel logistics so you’ll have guidance and help there. This is a beautiful island and well worth a visit in its own right,” he adds. Closing date is Tuesday August 15. For further information contact Turlough at turloughconway at gmail dot com
