US Runner Sets New Women's 24 Hour World Record

US ultra runner Camille Herron recently set a new world 24-hr record at the Desert Solstice track international invitational race in Phoenix , Arizona, her very first attempt at the distance.

The 36-year-old from Oklahoma ran 262.2 kms (162.9 miles) to beat Poland's Patrycja Bereznowska's best set in Belfast last year by 2.2kms (1.3 miles). That works out as 8:53 min/mile pace!

Herron ,who is also the 100 mile world record holder (12:42:41) ,won the Desert Solstice race outright beating a top-notch field. She is coached by her husband, Dublin native Conor Holt.
