Think they`re using a Commodore 64 ...

So who is in charge at Primoevents. Shocking rubbish! Why use them. So many other options. Not capable of setting up a live registration link. Next.............Most people do have jobs and other matters to attend to and cannot afford to spend nearly an hour to register for a race .....it should take 5 minutes!!!!!

09:47 - still down!!

Could everyone stop for just one minute so I can register? Then ye can go back to it

I know that going from previous events, Primo seem to struggle with lots of traffic. Active seem to be better for the big numbers.

50 minutes of trying now and still havent got passed entering my details.. Very poor form..

What a Joke. Cannot believe how poor registration is. I can understand high volume but surely they expected this ?

This is a bloody disgrace....I wouldn't mind but this is the only race available and if we don't get into this race there won't be another one along for another year!!!!

Re Dungarvan 10mile Event is currently closed due to technical issues with capacity. Further details to follow ...

It looks as if Primo have given up.

"Event is currently closed due to technical issues with capacity. Further details to follow ..."

Primo are useless!!

I'll be pi$$ed if I miss out on it due this error.

Anonymous said...

Took all my details and crashed . This is grand but I haven't all day to sit around on a PC and could miss getting registered now . Very poor

Anyone reg yet

I got to the form a couple of times but couldn't click on the radio buttons (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, was trying Internet Explorer / Edge when it stopped altogether).
Still shows event closed (10:16am).

After filling out the form it said I had taken too long to register and the form had expired. Not a fast typer but with no time/ clock to let youknow how long is left it’s a bit annoying to see that message. Same thing happened last year, but managed to squeeze in after 45 minutes. No joy this time and an hour that now needs to be worked back for nothing.

If primo events don’t have the technology to cope with high demand then they shouldn’t be handling entries. Simple as that.

have to do some work here. pure rubbish, not goingto bother anymore

@dequarefella LOL 'Could everyone stop for just one minute so I can register? Then ye can go back to it'
You win the internet today!

At this rate posting in the entry will be quicker!!

Supply and demand craze happened in Ballycotten towards the end as well. I remember last year the same thing happened, if its anything like last year entries in my club were plentiful to swap when people realised they had to train over the winter months. Always a rush for things like this because people don't want to be left out.

Waiting list available now

A ballot system now!!

Unknown said...

So it's going to be a ballot now! Have to join the waiting list to enter and will be contacted on Monday if you're successful. :-/

Anonymous said...

Update of a ballot, that is a complete cop out to the fact that they could not get their act together to get the online entries correct. Completely unfair!

Anonymous said...

Can they not sort the entries by date/time............is that too much to ask. Clearly yes.

A shambles! Let's hope that the race organizers review this morning's fiasco when it comes to future events.

Anonymous said...

Why don't the runners that completed the west Waterford summer series get automatic entry to this as a priority and it would encourage more people to run more of the summer series.

Anonymous said...

A ballot is a complete joke. I took an hour off work today to register for the race and now to be told I'm going into a ballot. This is unreal. Surely their is a better system out their.

Unknown said...

Obviously the fairest way to do it is to treat the people who spent an hour trying to register this morning the same way as a person who signs up for the waiting list on Friday afternoon.

Donal said...

I would imagine they will go through the email requests sequentially and send requests out on first come first served basis. Looks like they had to revert to plan B in a hurry when they couldn't get things working. Who'd be a race organiser!

Upgrade the server Primoevents...simples!!

mallow grouch said...

It's literally a lottery now whether we get into the race. Not good enough for those of us who have been travelling to Dungarvan every year since it was part of the Munster Classic Series.

Unknown said...

I also presume that by "ballot" they mean "lottery" but didn't want to use the word. A ballot is a vote. We're not voting for anything by entering their lottery.

Anonymous said...

Trim 10 mile road race on the same day !! Ballot my eyeball!!! WWAC need to get rid of primo, this has happened for 2 years running!!!

"Donal" said...

See my earlier "comment" regarding last minute "plan B" being put in place. They had to do something. Hard to appease the masses.

Jason said...

Yes it's far from ideal and disappointing that it was not possible to register but I think a bit of perspective is needed here.

99.9% of the time primo event servers can handle the site traffic, it's not often than an event generates this volume of traffic at the one time. To handle this primo events would need to investigate heavily in additional infrastructure that would be barely used most of the time. No doubt this cost would be passed on to the race organisers and as a result onto the runner.

I'd also remind people of the following line from statement announcing that the Ballycotton 10 was ending.

"Also, some participants today are more demanding than in the past and it goes without saying that social media now plays a major role in those demands"

The organisers of these fantastic events do so in there spare time on a a very limited budget. It's worth keeping that in mind before going online and criticising them.

Anonymous said...

bring ballycotton 10 back and take the pressure off....

Unknown said...

They wouldn't need to invest heavily at all. For example, AWS would allow them to have scalable cloud servers that would have had the additional capacity on tap for them.

Anonymous said...

For the future. I'm wondering could the organisers do something similar to Ballycotton? I.E. Take club entries by post from the AAI registered clubs? Then any leftover spaces could be made available online.

John Desmond said...

If anything, priority should probably be given to the runners that take part in the West Waterford Summer Series.

The big problem though is trying to give preferential treatment to any group when there are 3000 entries. It's a lot of extra work.

Unknown said...

Have race numbers been allocated ?

Unknown said...

Emails were sent out Friday. If you're still waiting it'll probably be Tuesday before they release the unclaimed.

any sign of entries coming today?
