Opening for Tramore Valley Park pushed back to Autumn 2018

Back in November of 2017, I had a post up about how the new Tramore Valley Park in Cork City was supposed to open before the Summer of 2018.

Officials in City Hall now say that the new date is 'August or September 2018'.

The former city dump was redeveloped as part of a €40 million project but has remained closed. Funding for staff has been secured for 2018 and additional works which include 'additional car parking, realignment of the main access road from the South City Link, the creation of internal roundabout and segregation of the civic amenity activities from park activities’ need to be completed.

If you've been following the saga of the Tramore Valley Park then you'll know that it has been opening 'next year' every year for the last few years. It wouldn't be any great suprise if the 'Autumn 2018' date slipped out into 2019.

Once it does open, it remains to be seen if the 'additional car parking' is enough to allow the resumption of the weekly 5k parkrun there.

This will be 3 years they have taken to reopen this much needed facility. What a joke.
