This story appeared in the Irish Examiner recently. Last Wednesday morning, a 24 year old runner from Glanmire witnessed the mugging of an 83 year old women at the corner of Patrick St and Winthrop St. in Cork City centre. With the thief making off with the womans handbag containing €180 and a mobile phone, the Marathon runner proceeded to give chase for the next 15 minutes around the streets of the city.
Eventually, the mugger did “a couple of laps around Morrison’s Island” before he ran out of steam. The piece in the Irish Examiner continues......"He then tried to throw some items that were in the handbag into the river, but they were retrieved by the runner. By this time the gardaĆ had arrived at the scene and arrested the mugger, who was also in his 20s."

they should give that runner who did his civic duty some sort of reward or prize. if he was really training for the cork marathon perhaps free entry to the marathon. fair play to him
What a lovely story. Fair dues to him
