As if just to emphasise how popular running Marathons in the US has become, the most recent one to sell out is the Marine Corps Marathon. An amazing 30,000 entries were sold in a record 2 hours and 41 minutes. When the entries opened at 3pm, more than 15,948 runners paid the $92 registration fee online in just the first hour. Last year, it took 28 hours to reach the 30,000 limit.
The Marine Corps Marathon is the 4th largest Marathon in the USA and the 9th largest in the world. The 37th MCM will be held on Sunday, Oct. 28 in Arlington, Virginia and Washington DC.
