Notice: IMRA Halloween Trail Races nr Kilworth - Sat 26th Oct 2024

IMRA are organising two trail races for the evening of Saturday the 26th of October 2024 in Glensheskin Woods near Kilworth and Fermoy.

First off, there's a half-marathon which is more suited for experienced trail runners as it has 300m of ascent. For those wanting something a lot easier, there is a 5k. Needless to say, you're going to need a good headtorch for both events.

As with all IMRA events, annual membership costing €10 is required.

The Munster branch of IMRA held their annual Halloween Half-Marathon & 5k this year on Friday 27th of October in Glensheshkin Woods near Kilworth in NE Cork.

A total of 110 runners took part in the nighttime half-marathon, an increase of 38% on last years numbers.

The IMRA had a trail Half-Marathon & 5k in Glensheskin Woods near Killeagh on Saturday 29th October 2022. It was somewhat unusual in that this was a night time event!

In the half-marathon, there were 78 finishers with another 33 in the 5k.

Notice: IMRA Trail Race in Kilworth Woods - Sun 12th June 2022

The Munster branch of the Irish Mountain Running Association (IMRA) are holding an 8km trail race in Kilworth Woods near Fermoy in NE on Sunday the 12th of June 2022.

This is the second race in the 2022 Coillte Trail League and is suitable for anyone who is capable of doing say a 10k road race and wants to try something off road without running up the side of a mountain.

As with all IMRA events, annual membership (€10) is required for insurance purposes and a rain jacket must be carried.

The IMRA Halloween Half-Marathon was held in Glensheshkin Woods near Kilworth on Saturday evening the 30th of October and there were 158 finishers in the event.

The photo above shows some of the Mt Hillary crew at the event.

This was a pretty tough half with plenty of mud and streams to navigate as well as running 13.1 miles.

The Munster branch of IMRA are holding a trail half-marathon in Glensheskin Woods near Fermoy on Saturday the 30th of October 2021. Note that it starts at 7:30pm so torches are required!

This is very much in the same format as the popular Ballyhoura Moonlight Half-Marathon which takes place in the Summer months.

Event notice...Kilworth Woods trail race - Sun 23rd Feb 2014

The next race in the Munster Winter Trail League will take place on Sunday 23rd of February in Glensheskin Woods, perhaps better known as Kilworth Woods in NE Cork.

The race will be 6km on a fully marked trail and starts at 11am. Registration will take place between 10am and 10.45am. If who have yet to run an IMRA race this year, you should print and fill out the following membership form: https://www.imra.ie/ad-hoc/IMRAMembershipForm2014.pdf

If you have run any of the IMRA races already this year, then bring that number with you as that is your number for the year. All runners must sign the race sheet at the start of every race.

There will have a junior race on offer on the day as well. This race will start at 10.30am and will be 2km in length. As usual, only juniors over the age of 10 years can run this race. Any juniors under the age of 10 can run the 'Kiddies Race' but must be accompanied by an adult. This run will be the same as the Junior Race.

Refreshments will be available nearby afterwards in the Corbett Court Hotel which is on the old Dublin road.
