New Book...Cork to Cobh Road Race by Richard Forrest

Every year, the Cork BHAA hold their annual Cork to Cobh 15 mile road race. This is one of the oldest races in Cork and has a long history stretching back to 1962.

Richard Forrest who is a local runner and librarian has just written a new book on the history of the race which contains a lot of photos and information going back over the years.

The price is €15.

Please note that a limited number of copies of this book were published. Richard has put a huge amount of work into this and it is very much a labour of love rather than doing it on a commercial basis. It's a case of just recording the history of one of the Cork's oldest races before a lot of that material is lost.

The book will not be available in book stores but if you want one, you can contact Richard directly at rmmf1970 AT gmail DOT com

Cooking and eating well are vital for a happy, healthy life, and what you put into your body determines how you live and feel. History of Cork Athletics book now on sale...

I had a post up a while back about the launch of the book Cork Champions Past And Present which covers the history of athletics in Cork from 1873 to 2012.

Someone asked me a question as to where this book can now be purchased?

I asked the author Liam Fleming of Bandon AC and he said that the book can be purchased at most bookshops in the county and also in John Buckley Sports (across from the opera house in Cork City).

It is also available from Liam himself (contact fleming.liam1@gmail.com) and it will be on sale at the Ballycotton 10 on Sunday, I presume at the race headquarters in the school.

The book costs €15.
