The inaugural Ballydesmond 5km road race organised by Duhallow AC in north-west Cork is coming up on Friday the 18th of September 2026 at 7pm. This is one of the last evening races on the calendar as the evenings are rapidly getting darker.
Numbers were limited for the first outing and all entries have sold out. No entries on the night.
Race HQ is at the local GAA club and there is parking there as well as at the local church. Stewards will be on hand to guide runners.
This is an out and back 5k course. It starts at the local Centra, goes out the R578 road towards Newmarket, turns around by Howards Foodstore.
Runners then return to Ballydesmond and finish outside Seventy7 Coffee.
The course basically goes gently uphill to the turnaround point which means the second half is gradually downhill. The turnaround point is about 45-metres higher in elevation than the finish line.
