The annual Donoughmore 7-mile road race was held on Thursday 16th June 2023 on what turned out to be a warm and dry Summer's evening. There was a big jump in numbers this year with 221 crossing the finish line, up 20% on the figure for 2022.

Credit to the organising committee for hosting a fantastic event. Everything went like clockwork. Thanks to the road stewards, first responders, Red Cross, registration desk, catering crew, water stops, finish line team, the encouraging spectators on the route and all the volunteers who gave up their personal time. Other race organisers could learn a thing or two from Donoughmore. There were 4 water stops and I used all of them (Cork City Marathon take note). The T-Shirts fit properly and the staff handing them out were helpful in ensuring this was the case. There was a great community atmosphere about the place. It was clear that all the Locals put in a massive effort. Yes, it's a tough course but I'll be back.
