On many running websites and forums, the overall consensus is that landing on your heel when you run is frowned upon and it's much better to land on your forefoot. Considering that most people are heel strikers anyway then it might seem to be an obvious issue. Some people manage to change their running style but most don't bother.
As shown in this video below, it's probably something that most people shouldn't really worry about. The video clip below shows some good points that most people can use to improve their running style...
1) Avoid over striding and try to make sure your foot lands under your torso. If your foot lands too far in front of you then you begin to introduce a braking effect which is something you want to avoid.
2) Try to develop a slight lean from the ankles up as shown in the video by coach Bobby McGee.
