The late John gave 65 years to athletics being elected the first ever Chairman of Old Abbey AC at the inaugural meeting of the club on the 29th of February 1952 to the present day where he was the current President. He also had the unique record of taking the first ever prize for the club when he won the Novice High Jump at Bweeng Sports in the Summer of 1953. He had the distinct pleasure of seeing many of his family become leading high jumpers to the present day where his grandson David is in the 2 metre plus crop of young jumpers. A dear friend, may he rest easy in the playing fields of Heaven. RIP.
