Tramore Valley Park opens to the public!
Finally! After many false dawns, the Tramore Valley Park in Cork City has opened to the public.
It will now be open 7 days a week from 8:30am.
I understand that several hundred car park spaces have also been added which surely makes the return of the weekly 5k parkrun much more likely.
The one serious issue is the lack of access from Half Moon Lane off the South Douglas Road. This is an obvious access point for a lot of people living in that area and not everyone can or will drive there.
With the Half Moon entrance closed, it is more likely that people will try to access the park by running across the South Link Road while the traffic light are red.
The entrance from Douglas is by the Gaeilscoil on what is a noisy but safe tarmac walkway.
Great to see it open but they really have to provide better pedestrian access than the far end of Douglas to people in the city centre. Wasn't the entrance on Half Moon Lane in use during the parkrun days, what's changed since then I wonder?
ReplyDeleteWhat time will it remain open until in the evenings do ye know? Great to see the facility being provided
ReplyDeleteYes its great that its open but better pedestrian access would be fantastic. I'd like to be able to run there from the city but that looks too dangerous. Instead it looks like you have to drive there?
ReplyDeleteAs regards closing times, the info is here... https://www.corkcity.ie/en/council-services/services/sports-recreation-parks/parks/cork-city-council-parks.html
ReplyDeleteLooks like nearly up to sunset.
