Thomas Barr wins Semi-Final of 400m Hurdles in Rio

A little bit of history was made this morning when Thomas Barr of Ferrybank AC in Waterford made it through to the Olympic final of the 400m hurdles in Rio. Not only did Thomas qualify but he also won his race in impressive style.

With his trademark kick in the final straight, he caught up and passed the leaders to take the win. His time was the 3rd fastest of the semi=finals.

The final is on Thursday evening Irish time.

  1. if runners can get PB's , break Irish records and/or get to olympic finals then they have done very well and justified their being there. unfortunately it seems to be rare enough so well done to thomas barr

  3. Not great from Irish runners except Thomas Barr.Great that they got there, but there has to be a time when we should start challenging at least getting into finals. Hopefully it will happen soon.
