Just 55 runners turned out for this years John Hartnett 10k race in Ballyhooly on Sunday the 14th of August. As can be seen from the chart above, it usually got in the region of 90 runners most years but this year, the fall has been pretty dramatic.
In the last few years, it has been going head to head with the Kilworth Festival 5k but that was on a different Sunday this year. It was however going this time with the Clonmel Half-Marathon so that probably had an impact.
I've seen some of the more remote races in Kerry get small numbers like this but it's unusual to see one in Cork drop to such a low level.
