Looking ahead to some more races coming up in the near future, this one might be of interest to anyone west or north of Cork City, in Kerry or south and west Limerick. The Jack O'Keeffe 4 mile road race is in North-West Cork on Easter Monday, the 1st of April.
This 4 mile road race starts in Boherbue and finishes in the village of Kiskeam. As you can see from the map below, it's a central location for a lot of people...
The race is being organised by Gneeveguilla AC, one of the largest athletic clubs in Kerry. The entry fee is €15 on the day and there is a huge array of prizes on offer. These are usually in the form of vouchers for a local co-op and are pretty generous.
There will be the usual refreshments of tea. coffee. sandwiches, etc afterwards as well. More details closer to the date.
€15 is very expensive for a 4 Mile!
ReplyDeleteThe entry fee is a reflection on the number and value of prizes on offer.
ReplyDelete1500But only a small minority of those running will actually get a prize. Spots prizes are only for those who wait around afterwards and still at that not many do.
ReplyDelete15 euro is crazy for a 4 mile race, most local 4 milers are 10 euro eg. Ballinhassig, Ballintotis, ect.and they would have prize value equal to Boherbue, anyway as far as I know this race has big sponsorship from a local Co Op., check out the Bandon Half Marathon 20 euro for an early bird entry.
ReplyDeleteI have run this race a number of times but I'm afraid it's too expensive this year so I'll give it a miss.
