Elite Field for the Ballycotton '10'...

Men
No 1 -  Sergiu Ciobanu (Clonliffe) – winner for the last two years, hoping to join John Griffin and Noel Berkeley as a three-in-a-row winner. Ran 49:20 last year and 49:36 in 2010. Won the National Inter-Clubs C-C last Sunday for the first time.

No 2 - Alan O’Shea (Bantry) – making his return to the race after a being out of action for a number of months. Won Ballycotton in 2007 (51:04) and finished second two years ago to Sergiu in his best time of 49:58.

No 3 - James McCarthy (East Cork) – finished third in Ballycotton last year (51:11), the best performance by a local athlete for many years. In good form on the road in recent weeks, winning the two four-mile races at Little Island. Seventh last Sunday at Inter-Clubs.

No 4 - Sean Hehir (Rathfarnham) – third in Ballycotton two years ago, ran 2:17:35 in the 2012 Dublin Marathon to take the silver medal in the Irish Championship. Third in the recent Enniscorthy 10km in 30:27. NOT RUNNING - ILLNESS

No 26 - Brian Maher (Kilkenny) – third in Ballycotton in 2010, recently ran 30:19 for the Enniscorthy 10km behind Tom Fitzpatrick who unfortunately has had to pull out of Ballycotton due to injury.

No 3299 - Sean McGrath (East Cork) – from nearby Ballyandreen, fifth in Ballycotton three years ago. Won the Carrigaline five-mile race two weeks ago for the sixth consecutive year.

No 6 - Michael MacDiarmada (Clonliffe) – first time in Ballycotton, ran 25:53 for this year’s Raheny ‘5’ and finished eight last Sunday at Inter-Clubs.

Also strong team entered from Raheny – Mick Clohisey (fourth last Sunday), Simon Ryan, Brian Leahy and Bernard Roe – who will be hoping to retain their team title.

Women
No 2992 - Maria McCambridge (Letterkenny) – won Ballycotton last year in a new course record of 54:48, breaking the previous best which stood since 1997 and was previously held by Marian Sutton, twice winner of the Chicago Marathon. After been controversially left out of the Irish marathon team for the London Olympics, McCambridge came back in the autumn to record a personal best of 2:35:28 when winning the national marathon title in Dublin. In good form at the moment, going by her 33:38 for 10km at Enniscorthy.

No 28 – Claire Gibbons-McCarthy (St Finbarrs). Won Ballycotton back in 2005, aiming for the Rotterdam Marathon at the moment and was sixth last Sunday at the Inter-Clubs C-C.

No 21 - Siobhan O’Doherty (Borrisokane), second in 2010 and fifth last year.   

No 1522 - Angela McCann (Clonmel), finished second two years ago (59:15) and fourth last year. Winner of the Cork City Marathon for the past two years.
