Well done to everyone who was involved.A tough 10k, but most enjoyable. Good food and refreshments afterwards.
ReplyDeleteGreat morning for it. Thanks Carmel!!
ReplyDeletegreat fast results well done to all concerned.
ReplyDeleteAgain the amount of people wearing headphones was disgraceful. On a busy open road these people care about no one but themselves and refuse to obey the rules. It would not be tolerated in any other sport.Still no headphones wearers in the results.Come on UCC you can do better than this seeing as you did everything else so well.
ReplyDeleteJames
great race/organisation/facilities - well done BHAA - take a collective bow !!
ReplyDeletedo headphones make you go faster ? ;-) could be worse i suppose they could be cycling ;-)!!!
ReplyDeletewell organised race- excellent
Excellently organised. The climb at 2 miles is challenging, coming so early, but it really is a good course. The food afterwards was, as usual, excellent and a credit to UCC. My only quibble is that I couldn't believe the amount of runners wearing headphones. Quite dangerous, especially with the adjacent traffic. Surely ALL race organisers should spell it out very clearly - Strictly no headphones. its an accident waiting to happen.
ReplyDeletegreat selection of pics and vids, so thanks to photographers for thier time and efforts - it helps to add to the occassion ! Thanks !
ReplyDeleteI suppose the question of headphones is a hard one for organisers to tcakle. Most runner must be aware of attitudes to them by now so short of organisers physically intervening, what do they do ? Its a hard question.
ReplyDeleteThank you to everyone that worked so hard to make the race such a success and to all the runners that participated. Carmel would have been delighted !!
ReplyDeleteLots of love from Nantucket Island, Massachusetts, Ciara(Carmel's sister)
Ciara's comment says it all. I ran the race once,(2009)& found it a challenging but enjoyable course, with the friendship that's in all the BHAA races. I haven't been back due to my training schedules for other races, though I'd love to return in 2013! The stewarding then, as now!)was superb. I particularly remember former international athlete John Buckley calling the time at the 1 mile mark, 9 I was slower than I hoped, as usual.) The same John Buckley was encouraging me for home at Christy Ring Bridge in Cork City Marathon 2 months later. Turning for home in the UCC race takes on a new meaning when the home straight is nearly 4 Km! Well done to all involved. Here's to Carmel.
