Cork City Marathon photos by Jorge Ruiz Villasante...

For the week after the Cork City Marathon, I have been adding links to any photos I could find of the event. The majority are usually taken in one spot and show streams of runners going past. Usually it's just of case of going through the thumbnail images and clicking on the ones that might seem interesting.

In previous races around Cork, I have featured photos by Jorge Ruiz Villasante on this website and it's obvious that his photos are of a very high standard. Jorge was also out and about for the Cork City Marathon and judging by his photos, he seems to have been everywhere! ;o)

Jorge's photos are much more than a stream of 'point and shoot' photos. He has the ability to spot what might make a good photo and this sets his work apart. Sometimes, it's something small....maybe a certain facial expression, a unique backdrop or a photo from a unique angle.

Here are a few I picked out...

A Marathon going through the Jack Lynch tunnel
...not something you see every day

Marathon & Relay runners going through the old Blackrock railway
station with the platform on the right.
The last train passed through here in 1932

The 9th Lady finisher approaching the 26 mile mark and putting in a strong finish...

One final push to the finish...

Jorge has a large selection of photos available as a slideshow. Take 10 minutes, click on this LINK and get a feel of what the Cork City Marathon was like.
