RIP: Ciarán Ó Lionáird


It was announced on Tuesday that former Irish Olympian and Cork native Ciarán Ó Lionáird died suddenly in Montreal, Canada at the age of 38.

Ciarán Ó Lionáird grew up in Toonsbridge near Macroom, Co Cork and represented Ireland in the 1500m at the 2012 London Olympics. He won a bronze in the 3000m at the 2013 European Indoor Championships in Sweden.
