Notice: IMRA Glengarriff 8km trail race - Sun 23rd July 2023


IMRA are holding an 8km trail race near Glengarriff in West Cork on Sunday 23rd July 2023. This one could be quite tough with the forecasted weather so it might be more suited to those who have done IMRA events in the past.

ROUTE DESCRIPTION: Cobduff (An Cabh Dubh) -Long Course, 8km, 12:00 Start- Short Course, 5km, 11:30 Start- Junior Race, 1km, 11:15 Start- Out and back courses. 

The 8km route starts with c0.5km on a tar road section of Beara Way. Switching to trail it continues for another 1.5km on BW trail all marked with the Yellow Man. The route then departs the trail and continues on open mountain/quad tracks for 2km to summit. A marshal will be at the trail departure point and at the summit with flags marking the course in between. The route may be boggy in places with care needed especially on the return decent. 100m ascent for 1st km, 40m decent 2nd km and 220m ascent to km 4.

GETTING THERE: Start point: https://goo.gl/maps/6bh5K4UeXsEQ7gdL9 The start will take place just off the N71 on the Beara Way up the road marked Dromgarriff, 1km south of Glengarriff Golf Course. THERE WILL BE NO PARKING AT THE START. 

Parking: https://goo.gl/maps/Uo22nepqCtQQx2TX9 Parking will be available 400m from Start towards Golf Course adjacent to N71. Take care when walking along main road as there are no footpaths. We would encourage car pooling.

ORGANISERS INSTRUCTIONS:NO CASH ENTRIES ON THE DAY, NO VOUCHERS SORRY. ONLINE REGISTRATION ONLY. Online pre-registration available at €7 on www.imra.ie until 18:00 the evening before. This race is open to all IMRA members. Under IMRA rules for competitor's safety, it is mandatory to bring and carry a jacket that is shower and wind proof for the entire race. Any competitor seen not carrying or wearing their jacket at any stage in the race will be disqualified. There are no exceptions to this rule! A mobile phone and a whistle will also be mandatory.
