Update 9th April: Please note that the 5-mile course has changed this year.

Statement from the organisers... “ Due to Safety reasons beyond our control , we have had to change a 2 mile section of the Banteer 5 Mile Road Race which take place on Sunday 14th May at 10am . The new course has been officially measured and we can now offer a much flatter and faster 5 mile course . The total elevation is only 24m over the 5 miles so we expect some fast times .

We are looking forward to welcoming you to a quality race on a fast and flat , scenic 5 mile route and I’m sure you will enjoy the refreshments afterwards where there will be lots of home baking delights.

Update 26th April: There will be a draw on the 30th April for all people entered up to that date and the prize is a €60 voucher for Fitness Solutions in Mallow.

From Liam Murphy – Race Director... “Mount Hillary AC with our Main Sponsor , Tarrant’s Skoda Banteer, are delighted to Launch the Banteer 5 Mile Road Race which will take place on Sunday 14th May 2023 at 10am.

We are offering a fast 5-mile course on a scenic route . Runners will receive a warm welcome and enjoy tea , coffee and treats after you cross the finish line.

We have cash prizes for Senior, Juvenile (15-17), O40 , O50 , O60 & Wheelchair . Banteer has a proud history in Athletics with it being the birthplace of two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Dr. Pat O’Callaghan. We would like to continue this rich tradition by providing a quality road race.”

Banteer is located about 20kms to the west of the town of Mallow in N Cork. It's just 1km south of the N72 Killarney to Mallow road.

The distance from Cork City is about 54 minutes and it's probably quicker to go via the main N20 road to Mallow and then take the N72 west. The alternative R579 route via Cloghroe and up over the hills to Nad might be shorter but it has a lot of twists and turns.

Banteer is also centrally located for any runners in Kerry or S Limerick.
