From the organisers... "Excitement is building as we prepare to make this years event as enjoyable as can be for all that will be in attendance. All proceeds go to Kilcredan national school which this year is celebrating 50 years.
The route is a flat course ideal for experienced runners who wish to get a PB or for new comers who are just starting out running, this course suits everyone.
If the weather is good, refreshments and prize giving will be outdoors and there is a bonus if course record broken for both men and women.
Update 26th May - For this years Ballymacoda 4 mile race and walk, we hope you are all looking forward to a great evening as much as we are. Just some information to prepare yourself ahead of the event.
The walk starts at 6:30 and will be lead out by lead walkers as in previous years.
The race which is for 15 year olds and older starts at 8pm. Race headquarters is the Fr O Neills sports field. Registration opens at 5:30 pm walk is €5 per adult, children are free of charge, and will receive a finishers medal, all children to be accompanied by an adult. The race cost is €10.
There will be no parking in the sports field car park as we keep this clear for registration and refreshments. Please follow directions and signage to the parking field which is located directly across from the sports field with the entrance on the opposite road. Stewards and signage will lead you to the entrance. Give yourself plenty of time to arrive and enjoy the atmosphere, the weather is looking favourable so we are hoping for as many as possible to support the event.
Thanks to all who have helped us so far and have pledged their help on the night."
Located near Ballymacoda in East Cork, this one is easy to access from the east via Youghal and from the west via Castlemartyr and Ladysbridge...
The course takes in a loop to the north-west of the GAA grounds and like the surrounding countryside is pretty flat.
Looking at the photos of the long straight sections and the Ordnance Survey map, I think this is a very fast 4 mile course.
