Just a note to raise awareness of a potential weather event if any runner or club is planning a training session on Thursday the 3rd of October.
Update Wed 2nd Oct : The remains of Hurricane Lorenzo will track across Ireland on Thursday. Met Eireann have issued an Orange weather warning for Cork so any outdoor events should be cancelled.
Even though it will be classified as a storm rather than a hurricane at that stage, it will still have very high winds and plenty of rain associated with it.
As it's still only the start of October, many trees still have plenty of leaves and as such will have a high wind load. There is a real possibility of fallen trees and electricity cuts.
Wednesday will be fine and the mild winds from the south will start at about 1am on Thursday morning. The high winds will last until about noon on Friday.
At the moment, the forecast for the parkruns on Saturday morning looks reasonable but you should check your local parkrun on Facebook to see if there are any issues with fallen trees or flooding.
Sunday is looking pretty reasonable as well for the Cork BHAA Cork to Cobh 15 mile race.
Keep an eye on the Met Eireann website for the latest forecasts.
