Notice : MMRA 6km trail race in Kilworth - Wed 11th July 2018

 

 For anyone who wants to try out a short trail races in a woods, this one is near Kilworth on Wed 11th July. Info from the organisers below...




***KILWORTH WOODS RACE***

Perfect opportunity to introduce that person in your life that doesn’t yet know that they love trail running. Ideal entry level stuff here before graduating to the harder stuff.

Junior and kids run also so bring the family. Bit of food and a chat afterwards too.

6k run with 100m climb meandering through Glansheskin Woods in Kilworth, Co. Cork.

Entry €5 (plus €10 annual registration fee if it's your first race of 2018)
Volunteers needed please.

***REGISTRATION***
Registration will be on grass area on the left beside the stream from 19.00 until 19.50 sharp. This year’s race will start approximately 700m from the car park at the Forrest entrance on the way to the car park. There is plenty of parking available but where possible car pooling would be appreciated as the woods will be opened to the public.

***ADULT RACE 8PM***
The race will start at the Forrest entrance travel up over the bridge through the car park past the Forrest barrier over the 2nd bridge and take a left some of this is narrow single trail follow the winding marked trails through the Forrest there are some sharp climbs early in the race and some short ones before the mid way point there is a narrow downhill finish cross the top of the car park to finish at the stream side.

***JUNIOR RACE 7:30pm***
Distance: 2 km
Route: run up the single track to the wooden bridge turn left and back down the fire road . Short sharp climbs for the first half kilometre downhill and flat for the final 1.5 kilometres.

***KIDS RACE 7:30pm***
Distance: 1 km
Route: starting at the Forrest barrier it’s an out and back to finish at the Forrest barrier.

***GETTING THERE***
From the square in the centre of the village, follow yellow Avondhu way-markers and the sign for Ballyporeen (15km). After 1km, turn left into Glensheskin Wood and walk over the bridge into the carpark
