Weather Forecast for the 2018 Cork City Marathon...

With just 24 hours to go, we can now get an accurate forecast of what the weather will be like for the 2018 Cork City Marathon on Sunday the 3rd of June.

It looks as if it will be dry and overcast in the morning with the temperature up in the mid to high teens. There will be a gentle breeze from the East which is likely to have the following impact...
a) From 3.5 miles in Cork City to 7 miles at the entrance to the Jack Lynch Tunnel, it will be a head wind and is likely to have a cooling effect. It probably won't be strong enough to slow anyone down.
b) The biggest impact of the wind will be probably be between 13 and 22 miles where it will be behind the runners most of the time. The impact here is that it will probably remove the cooling effect of running forward and will make it feel very warm. Even if it is overcast, it will still feel very warm running around city streets.
c) The wind will have a gentle cooling effect for the last 4 miles.

Overall......Even though there will be clouds, it will still feel very warm and the heat may be an issue for some. You should aim to wear as little as possible and certainly leave any jackets and the like in your gear bag. If you feel slightly cold at the start of the race then you're wearing the right amount of clothing.

The forecast could be a lot worse for running and it's about as good as it could be for the first weekend in June.
