excellent race and great spread afterwards but the t shirt is pretty rubbish. no use at all really
ReplyDeleteThe times don't seem as blistering as I would have expected. There are regularly comments about how it is set up for fast times and elites. I would have expected a stronger field.
ReplyDeleteGreat race and spread after always, I personally like the T-shirt! Was disappointed the timing mat at half ways wasn't there this year tho, any reason for this? Was nice to see how many places you gained or lost in the second half
ReplyDeletedid ya do it for the race or the t-shirt
ReplyDeleteThe race is obviously the reason people enter a race but for an expensive race like this the minimum you should expect is that the t-shirt would fit... here lies the problem!
DeleteMine fits fine. Thanks to all for hosting a great event again
DeleteAt a water station a person took a sip of a bottle & threw it down . The lady at the water stop instructed the child handing out water to pick up the bottle and hand it out again because only a sip was taken.. that's disgusting & could spread virus' , coldsores etc. For future ref inform water stations to do no such thing
ReplyDeletei PB'ed so I was happy with that but the T shirt was naff. Binned it
ReplyDeleteHalf way times are there - transponders used instead of timing matts - look a bit closer at your results report and you will see your half-way time. Just click where it says Splits when you click into your individual report.
ReplyDeleteThere is a dead horse clearly visible at the start of the second video. Just inside the wall.
ReplyDeleteThe world IS flat!!!
ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt the fastest half marathon I've ever done. It was my first time doing this race. I always heard people raving about it so I thought I might as well give it a shot and try for a PB. There is a small bump by the railway bridge, but other than that. the course is so flat it almost feels like you are running downhill. I got my PB by almost 2min and so did loads of other people I know. Great organisation, everything went so smoothly I had no idea that there were over 1100 people running. Well done and a big thank you to the organizers. I'll be back again!
One of the best organised races in the country and the best half marathon course by far and still people find something to moan about. Unbelievable. Well done North Cork AC for putting on a great event as always. Another year, another PB. This race always bring out the best in me. And I'll look forward to putting in many training miles in that lovely t-shirt. Nice and light, they way I like them. The women's vests looked good too. And those egg sandwiches were delicious.
ReplyDeleteWell done North Cork AC. Great atmosphere before and after the race. 1st time running in this race and enjoyed it. A few comments above regarding the t-shirt, I love it!
ReplyDelete2 things - the lights in Dunnes carpark weren't on, thought it was very dangerous and no showers afterwards, think your man with the keys was missing with them!!! So, didn't bother saying around for the food afterwards...shame!
Maybe you should write a letter of complaint to dunnes stores, that is the worse complaint I've heard in a long time
DeleteI parked in Dunnes too. I was free and maybe I was still half asleep but I didnt seem to sense any danger. "Very Dangerous", for God sake lads!!!
Deletelooks like a dead horse alright. shocking
ReplyDeleteGreat race. But lets all be honest now..no way any male runner is going to be seen dead in the t-shirt, seriously . As others have said, it is a well set up event, on a P.B.enhancing course which probably explains the entry price..but please next year can we have a decent t-shirt!
ReplyDeleteGreat race and very well organised and supported along the route. Plenty of water stops too. Thanks to all who helped. Glad we got such great weather for it. The t-shirt is great don't mind the moaners on here.
ReplyDeleteAhhh that's terrible sad lads. You wouldn't get that now at Ballycotton. My question is....was the dead horse included in the price of the race.....is this going to become standard in race entry....if so I certainly won't be running this race again next year unless there's some variety in decomposing animal. Disgrace!!
ReplyDeleteFantastic race highly recommend well done to all involved in organising this race
ReplyDeleteGreat event as normal, well done to North Cork A/C! Don't think the extra number increased congestion or anything like that. Too bad the showers were locked up afterwards but not exactly a big deal.
ReplyDeleteGreat race , well organised and the t shirt is nice , light and great fit . Don't understand people complaining , great credit to all the clubs that take time out of their lives to put in super events , thanks guys.
ReplyDeleteI like the t-shirt. great event, some gluten free sandwiches and cakes would have been nice at the end though
ReplyDeleteTop class event again, take a bow North Cork AC. My second year taking part. I travelled a good distance for the flat, straight, fast course and to run alongside a top quality field of runners. It's one of the best races around and I'll definitely be back. T-shirt is perfect, not a thing wrong with it.
ReplyDeleteLads there are 3-4 complaints here that have no relevance to the race or North Cork A/C. The lights in Dunnes, well I sincerely doubt they had the keys of Dunnes to switch them on. It's probably a public car park. As for the dead horse, how in the name of god were they supposed to know there was a dead horse in private property, apart from the drone its possible nobody knew it was there, is the horse even dead, maybe it's just lying down? Please give them some credit and stop knocking them over something that they had no hand, act or part in!!
ReplyDeleteIn all fairness the 'dead horse' is behind a 14ft wall nobody except a drone could see it so hardly something that can blamed on the organisers
ReplyDeleteDont think I blamed the organisers for it. Just pointing out that there is a dead horse in the video. Mabey the sight of the free top or lack of gluten free sambos gave it a heart attack.
DeleteJust to follow up on the water bottle comment, we would be horrified to think something like this would happen, we fully intend making enquiries with our volunteers. Declan, we had a gluten free section available at the post race refreshments.
ReplyDeleteWell done to the organisers, great day, good course. While my time was back 3 mins from the previous years it was great to meet Rob Heffernan.
ReplyDeleteThe increasing numbers at this event is a testament to North Cork AC's great organisation & planning. It takes a phenomenal effort on the part of club members, family & friends to stage such an event. Registration, Water Stations, Catering, Stewarding, Road Safety, First Aid, & Clean Up is primarily done by volunteers who give up a significant amount of their time to ensure us runners have a positive experience. Spare a thought for those who filled the race packs in the late hours, to the road stewards who were verbally abused by irate drivers, to the medical team, to those who picked up every bottle & piece of clothing we dropped along the route. No matter what you do, T-Shirts are either too small or too big for some. It's not logistically possible to provide hot showers for 1400 people. Most people I spoke to really enjoyed the event. It's unfortunate that you get a few people complaining about the little things. North Cork got the important things right. Other clubs could learn a lot from them.
ReplyDeleteGreat event. The long straight road is ideal for a HM distance - don't know of a better course. Chip timing, water bottles, road closures etc. (i.e. the things that matter) all went perfectly. The other things like t-shirts really are minor details!
ReplyDeleteThanks to sinead the 70 min pace maker for her advise on the hills and her encouragement at the end . It was much appreciated . Thank u Linda
ReplyDeleteMany thanks to Mike and Brigette the 2 hour pacers. They were fantastic from start to finish and encouraged everyone in the group to get in under the 2 hours.
ReplyDeleteI was delighted with a PB.
Couldn't fault anything about this race.
I enjoyed the refreshments and had a quick shower afterwards at the hotel.
Thanks to North Cork AC .
Really appreciated the pacers. They were amazing.
I though the t-shirt was great, very comfortable and it fit perfectly! Seriously though, is that why people entered!?!?
ReplyDeleteIt as a great race and a very well organised event. Will definitely be back next year, hopefully to PB again.
Well done to all involved.
