In your opinion, what were the best 5m and 10k races in Cork in 2016 and why?
There were a wide number of races to choose from, be it BHAA, club or charity events.
Leave a comment and we'll start the poll very soon.
5 Mile last year for me was Midleton 5 Mile. Great event for their anniversary, lovely running top and great spread after. 10k was Thomas Kent. Great inaugural race. Challenging course. Great organisation and many many spot prizes after.
ReplyDeleteThe Thomas Kent Memorial 10k in Castlelyons
ReplyDeleteI am going to be Biased and say Bweeng 10k. Offers 2 race distances with 5k too. Not many do that. Great spread of food. Nice route. Chip timed and growing again this year and all for 10euro. After that the Thomas Kent 10k and East Cork 10k. For 5mile Milstreet is a good one.

ReplyDeleteFota Cheetah 5K - only race that i know allows your kids to run too in a separate race which is fantastic. Did not run a 4 miler.

ReplyDeleteEast Ferry 5 mile is tops for me.
ReplyDeleteThe scenic route is awesome.
Fine spread always in the hall afterwards.
Have to say the Thomas Kent 10K was a brilliant event from start to finish hopefully it will be back this year
ReplyDeleteRicky Devereaux says Emer Casey 10K in Youghal - hands down a winner.
ReplyDeleteThe Carrigaline 5mile is under-rated. It's a brilliant race. Ballyandreen & Midleton 5's are also great races.
ReplyDeleteNo 10K's of the calibre mentioned above.
Midleton 5 Great course Free T Shirt and great food after. Their new HQ in Market Green with ample parking was super.
ReplyDeleteEast Ferry 5miler & Thomas Kent Memorial 10k. Both very well organised with testing courses. Great scenery in East Ferry while the TK 10k had a superb post race spread & brilliant medal.
ReplyDeleteLiscarroll AC 10k in August. Fast flat course, perfect for aiming a PB. Lovely spread afterwards in the Community Centre.

ReplyDeleteThe East Cork Harbour 10k in Aghada.
ReplyDeleteA very nice out and back course with a decent chance of bagging a pb too.
The burgers cooked to order at the finish were a nice touch.
An excellent attempt for first time race organisers.
Ccfc 5k run on oct 9th was very enjoyable for me . Good route and great organisation. Plus it was for Marymount a great cause.
ReplyDeleteThe Midleton 5 mile, good course, nice running top and plenty of parking space in Market Green. As for 10k, I'm fairly new to running, and the East Cork 10k was my first and only (so far) 10k, and it was a great day out!
ReplyDeleteKinsale 5 mile very well organised and a great course. Best 10 km was Rebel Run.
