Now that the new year has started, it's time to look back and consider what were the best races of the year? In this post, we'll look at the best 10 mile and half-marathon races.
As some of the really big races like the Dungarvan 10 are outside Cork but attract a lot of Cork runners, we'll include nominations for any race in Cork and Munster. In your opinion, what were the best 10m and 10k races in 2016 and why?
Leave a comment and we'll start the poll very soon.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic ten mile they have up there in Ballynonty. They are so friendly to everyone up there. Great course too.
ReplyDeletebest half has to be the Clonmel Half marathon, good fair course, fantastically organized and savage food afterwards.
ReplyDeletebest 10mile would be the John Treacy in Dungarvan
Blackwater 10 mile, Clondulane. Scenic course, virtually closed roads, fantastic party atmosphere in the village green afterwards. Ideal prep a few weeks out from Cork Marathon.

The great island ten (when it was eventually run due to the weather) was a super race as usual.

ReplyDeleteDUNGARVAN 10
John Buckley 10 mile race in Cork last year was the best most enjoyable race I had last year, absolutely fantastic on a lovely Saturday evening. Half marathon vote goes to Clonmel, 2nd time doing it. Good price nice t-shirt and goodie bag and feed after. Really child friendly had entertainment on for the kids.
ReplyDeleteJohn Buckley 10 miler and Waterford Half are 2 great races. great courses, pacers, goodie bags etc. and well organised.
ReplyDeleteCharleville half
ReplyDeleteJohn Buckley 10mile was good, nice flat course and the Clonmel half was very enjoyable great atmosphere after.
ReplyDeleteJohn Buckley 10 and Waterford Half (Jan and Dec editions!) were both excellent but I think the Great Island 10 is a really good challenging race. It is well organised and supported and you really know you have run 10 miles afterwards!
