Results of the Clonakilty Marathon, Half-Marathon & 10k...Sat 3rd Dec 2016

This is one event that has had more than its fair share of bad luck with various weather events over the years. Between ice and floods, there has been problems on more than one occasion. Last year, there was a big storm which resulted in the cancellation of the event in December and it was held in February instead.

The numbers for December 2016 are up on last February but down on previous years. As events go in Cork, it is still pretty big with about 1500 people taking part.

  1. No comments being posted so I assume it went well (thankfully). Well done to all concerned.

  2. The race was well organised but Very expensive! The shirts are a really poor fit. I got size small and it's more like a large! Can I get this changed?

  3. As one who was critical of previous fiasco's at this race, I have to say that it was a pleasure to run it this year. I ran the 10k, and everything went off to a tee. Perfect weather, good course, on-time start, good buzz at the start line, all 3 routes well signposted.
I am delighted that it went well for the Clon crew this year.

  4. wouldn't agree tha it's expensive. To be honest I don't know how they break even. Lots of extras to make the event so special. What a race

  7. Did the half marathon, didn't know the course as I couldn't find it on the website beforehand. Medal looks impressive but it's way over the top huge. If it was half the size it'd still be huge! Tried to fit too much on it I guess. Thought after run refreshments were poor, 2 different types of biscuits & tea/coffee, not even sandwiches like you'd see on most 5k / 5 mile runs. That said, good run, got started right on time, good parking, got shower after the run for free (towel 1 euro if you didn't have one). Thanks to the organisers!

  8. It's all about the biscuits!!! Glad it went well this year, Waterford half is bound to have a detrimental effect on numbers, pity they couldn't avoid a clash.
